Just opened on September 17, 2020! The most recent addition to national memorials in Washington, D.C., this site is devoted to honoring a life of service to country and to the world. Dedicated to a young boy from Abilene, Kansas who grew up to be one of the greatest strategic military leaders of his time and went on to become 34th President of the United States. To those who knew him, Dwight D. Eisenhower was a beloved prankster with a warm smile and a trustworthy character. To the Allies he was the hero of World War II. To Americans he was the president who created the Interstate Highway System, signed the first civil rights legislation since Reconstruction, and created the agency that became NASA. To everyone he was known as "Ike". Come take a stroll through this 4 acre memorial in downtown Washington, D.C. You'll even get views of both the Washington Monument and the United States Capitol Building! Ask questions and socialize!
