Alfama is the oldest neighborhood of Lisbon! Inhabited by many peoples and cultures, it is nowadays a mixture of influences and so it became one of the most fascinating places to walk around the city. During this tour, we will see the Cathedral and Saint Anthony's Church, cradle of the most popular and cherished Saint of Lisbon! We will also walk through some amazingly narrow streets and finish at Casa dos Bicos, an unique monument, today a museum of the only Portuguese winner of the Nobel Prize of Literature, José Saramago. Here, on the hill of Alfama, the viewpoints dazzle our eyes with white churches, flashy orange rooftops, blue and white tiles, colorful façades, the crystal blue river and if we are lucky even the famous yellow tramways! From the top, not only do we have beautiful views , but we can also better understand the narrow and labyrinth structure of Alfama. Going downhill, we emerge ourselves on the little maze like cobbled streets until we get closer to the old city wall, across the former jewish neighborhood.
