Fado derives from the latin word Fatum, meaning Fate, Destiny. Having its origins in the most traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon - Mouraria and Alfama, back in the 19th century, singing Fado was a way of sharing the sorrows, the love, the joy and the regrets of life. Come along and learn what Fado is all about and why it was classified by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
