Description du service
The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin is a triumphal gate. It was built at the end of the central boulevard "Unter den Linden" at the end of the 18th century on the instructions of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II. Based on designs by Carl Gotthard Langhans. The sculpture of the Quadriga that crowns the gate is a work based on a design by the sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow. The gate is the only remaining of the last 18 Berlin city gates. The Brandenburg Gate is the most famous Berlin landmark and a German national symbol, with which many important historical events of the 19th and 20th centuries are connected. Until the opening of the Iron Curtain, it stood directly on the border between East and West Berlin and thus symbolized the clash between the Warsaw Pact and NATO at the most sensitive point of their shared border in world politics. Accordingly, the Brandenburg Gate has also been seen as a symbol of overcoming the division of Germany and Europe since 1990 and stands for freedom and peace. Ask questions and socialize!
